ATCOLD – the Austrian National Committee On Large Dams – is the Austrian sub-organisation of ICOLD – the International Commission On Large Dams, which includes more than eighty national committees from all over the world.

ATCOLD is an agency formed by individuals, organisations, enterprises, etc. engaged in the planning, design, construction, and operation of large dams. Its members include consulting engineers, construction companies, suppliers of mechanical equipment, authorities, and university departments.

ATCOLD’s principal purposes are:

  • Represention of Austria’s interests within the International Commission On Large Dams.
  • Pooling and representation of the interests of the large-dam sector in Austria and abroad.
  • Preservation and consolidation of knowledge regarding large dams including communication of international experience.
  • Education and training (on a national and international basis).
  • Public relations work.

 

ZTo this end, ATCOLD passes on information internally, provides documentation, and organises symposia and training courses and also exhibitions.
ATCOLD makes a point of maintaining a high level of practical and scientific competence in all the special fields pertaining to large dams.
