Our concern is the safe, reliable, and economical operation of dams. To this the “Austrian Committee on Large Dams” contributes within the framework of the engineering education, the preparation of rules and standards, and through international cooperation’s. Dams in Austria are due to their great caution in constructing, in operation, and in maintenance engineering constructions with highest safety standards.

Our dams serve due to their retention possibility the population as precaution against floods. For energy production from regenerative sources stored water is utilized when required. With this the rapid accessible peak-power-plants complement excellently the energy production of run-of-the-river power plants. The dam constructions with their storage lakes are the only, industrially available energy batteries.

The know-how for dam constructions, their surveillance and maintenance we support with our engagement in seminars, educational courses, and congresses. We are the representatives of Austria in the ICOLD, the “International Commission on Large Dams“.
